A big announcement…. VK5MCH in company are organising an event under VK5.au

We are going to have “PICNIC AT THE PARK”.

The first one is to be held at Thorndon Park Paradise on the 16th May 2024.

We will be doing a Park Activation with a twist. We want you to bring your HF portable antennas and we will put it to the test on performance and design ( Transceiver provided). There will be a small prize for the winning entry… Plus the Glory.

We encourage you to bring your family and make it a great social occasion.

The cost is $6 per person and will cover a bacon and egg roll, with coffee and tea available (we only wish to cover expenses).

Due to catering requirements we need to confirm attendance numbers. So please confirm your intention to attend by Monday the 13th May (including your withdrawal) by emailing Mick vk5mch@vk5.au

We want this to become a regular social event for all amateurs clubs. It is to be a social event with an amateur twist.

So please get on board and join us, Amateurs working together to Make Amateur Great Again….LOL

Go to Google maps. Thorndon Park Hamilton Tce Paradise.

We will be set up at BBQ 16/17. Please bring your own seats

Thorndon Park offers walking trails and adventure play ground for the younger generation (lol) and a beautiful outlook.

See you there. 73’s VK5GM

I was invited to join Mick VK5MCH, Tom VK5TOM, and Paul VK5PH, at Thornden Park where we had an egg and bacon roll and set up Mick’s IC7300 with a squid pole and dipole. Several contacts were made including a great contact to the USA (Texas). Mick was running 40w.

The concept is that we may be able make this a semi-regular event that creates a great outing amongst amateurs and families. It has been suggested we could have an Antenna Challenge day to see whose design performs the best.

The May Regular meeting of the Club will be a presentation by Club member Des VK5LEA on the pros- and cons- of owning an EV.
Des has always owned and driven petrol/diesel vehicles and as this is his first foray into the world of electric cars we can be assured his talk will be very interesting.
If you are contemplating buying an EV then this meeting will be for you.

The Club is well-known for its annual buy-and-sell event over a number of years.but the recent Pandemic put a hold on this up until now. The event held Sunday 14th was quite a success, with near-perfect weather. What better way to spend a Sunday to off-load some hard-earned cash and take home a new treasure?.
This has always been a good social event where amateurs can meet and reminisce over a tasty snag from the barbecue or coffee and a biscuit from the counter.
The Club would like to thank all for attending and looks forward to next year for a repeat.performance.
