I have an Icom 706 MK2g and a LDG AT-200 Pro tuner for sale. Both are in excellent condition and the AT-200 Pro comes with the Icom 706 interface lead. I want to sell them as a complete package.

I am asking $700.00 cash for the lot. Lorenzo VK5KO

Contesting basics  & practical

Starring Laurel & Hardy aka

Nigel VK5NIG   Stuart VK5STU

With Nigel trying to be serious, and Stuart, doing  a good job of not being serious, his jokes were good. What is CW?

Amongst all the humor and fun, members had a good night, learning about contesting.

A variety of hand held radios, and portables, were brought along by members, who eventually joined in the fun, of NERCs contesting night.

Nigel gave a talk on how to look at contesting, which is recognized as a sport in Amateur radio, he also showed a video from Germany which proved to be an eye opener of equipment and coffee machines!

Every one enjoyed the night, with members logging in from all over the world including the south pole. and a place tidli… don’t know how to spell

It was also shown you can get into this sport for very little money around $50.00, I found one on Ebay.com.au for less ?

Join us for some basics of contesting and some practice.  Over the next few months a few contests and other similar things are going on that you might like to try, such as VHF/UHF field days and the WWFF activation weekend.  We will show you how to use some software and some techniques to get your confidence up and be competitive.

In order to participate in the practical aspect please bring along a handheld with 2m capability.  We will use 2 simplex frequencies – 146.425 and 146.525 -(no offsets) so it might be an idea to  program them in before hand or ensure you know how to drive your rig so you can QSY between them on the night.  A pen/pencil and notepad or paper might be useful also as you will be doing some logging.

Your contest master for the evening will be Nigel VK5NIG and comic relief will be Stuart VK5STU.

C U then!
