Everyone is invited to come and join the members of NERC at this general meeting whether you are new to radio or intested in learning more about this exciting hobby.

The presentation for this meeting is a behind the scenes look at the new NERC website and how you might go about setting your own up website and domain.

Websites and Domains – How to set one up.

Presented by:

Stuart VK5STU

Meetings commence at 7:15pm for a 7:30pm start at the Modbury West Community Hall, Capulet Crescent, Modbury.

We heard at the AGM recently that a proposed new clubroom location may be on the cards.  Here are a few photos of the location from the outside.  A quick QSO into VK3 on 40m showed that the noise floor is about what is expected from a location in the suburbs.  20, 15 and 10m were also ok.

The site looks in good repair and has had a make over in recent years.  Security looks ok with screen to all windows and a roller shutter over the main entrance door..  A phone service is cabled in and power looks to be working, with outside lighting on some kind of timer.

A couple of good tree’s provide the opportunity for some long wire antennas, with a couple of sturdy metal poles in place with flood lights might be good for a dual band 2/70cm antenna.  Parking is very limited on the site (8-10 parks).  A large shed is at the rear of the site and is secure.  It has a concrete footing and is in good repair from the outside.

There is a lot of run off at the front down towards the main building with water and dirt collecting against the building.  Some ground cover or simple landscaping should deal with that.  Gutter need cleaning as they are overflowing.

Welcome to the new NERC website!

This site replaces the old static HTML site and is built on the popular WordPress platform.  Many new features are available now and over the coming weeks we will expand the site to include some of these.  In addition we have moved to a dedicated hosting provider which gives us many new services to take advantage of.  Stay tuned as we bring some of them on line.

If you have any feedback or suggestions please send them to:

webmaster@northeastradioclub.org.au

(one of those new services is the ability to have our own email addresses)

A big thanks to Nigel VK5NIG for the creative artistry in getting the theme and layout of the site together.

The AGM was again well attended with the usual chicken, pizza, drinks and desserts.  Thanks to all those that assisted in organising the food and evenings events.  A good speech from VK5KLD on his escapades in Egypt was well received…or was it all just LasVegas!  The new committee was elected with Rob VK5RC remaining as President and Stuart VK5STU being co-opted to take on the webmaster role. Allan VK5LAM has stood down from the committee after providing some good ideas and valued service during his time on the committee.  Thanks to everyone who attended in making this an enjoyable night of fellowship. 73s.
